Nicolas Espitia est chercheur au CNRS au sein du Centre de Recherche en Informatique, Signal et Automatique de Lille (CRIStAL), à Lille, France.
Il a obtenu le diplôme d’ingénieur en électronique ainsi qu’une licence en mathématiques de l’Escuela Colombiana de Ingeniería Julio Garavito (Bogotá, Colombie) en 2011 et 2012, respectivement. Il a ensuite obtenu un master en systèmes, automatique et technologies de l’information de l’Université Joseph Fourier (Grenoble, France) en 2014, puis un doctorat en automatique du GIPSA-Lab (Université de Grenoble) en 2017. De 2017 à 2019, il a été chercheur postdoctoral à Inria Lille Nord-Europe.
Il est editeur associé pour les revues European Journal of Control, Systems & Control Letters et Automatica. Ses recherches portent principalement sur deux axes : i) La commande échantilloné et évementielle des systèmes complexes modélisés par des systèmes à paramètres distribués (équations aux dérivées partielles et systèmes à retard), avec des applications dans la régulation du trafic et les systèmes multi-agents; ii) La commande en temps prescrit pour les systèmes à paramètres distribués, visant à améliorer la stabilité et les performances.
